What type of medical seminars do you offer?
International Conferences offer a series of Seminars in Medicine and Seminars on Legal-Medical Issues.
In 2009, International Conferences offers seminars in legal-medical issues, infectious diseases, emergency medicine, cardiology, pediatrics, endocrinology, pulmonology, rheumatology, and urology.
How many category 1 credits are offered in your programs?
Our programs are all sponsored by The School of Medicine, State University of New York at Stony Brook, and have been approved for 18 or 24 category 1 continuing medical education AMA/PRA credits. The seminars have also been approved for 18 or 24 prescribed hours by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
In addition, the medicolegal seminars have been approved for 18 or 24 hours of continuing legal, nursing, and dental education.
Total available credits depend on the length of the cruise.
What are category 1 CME credits?
Category 1 CME credits are the highest level of continuing education credits awarded by the AMA.
Where do you get your speakers from?
The entire clinical faculty comes from the School of Medicine, State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook, the legal-medical faculty is recruited nationally, and each faculty member holds both the M.D. and J.D. degree. Eighty percent of the legal-medical faculty is past presidents of the American College of Legal Medicine. IC recruits world renowned physician lecturers, such as Dr. Cyril H. Wecht, one of the top forensic pathologists in the world. Dr. Wecht has worked on such high profile cases as Anna Nicole Smith’s son Daniel, Jean Benet Ramsey, John F. Kennedy, Nicole Brown Simpson and Lacy Peterson.

Are the seminar outlines and working schedules for each seminar available?
Yes. The seminar outlines are posted on our website and are listed under the event details. If you would like a preliminary working schedule, you can contact IC for complete information.
What times are the seminars normally conducted and will the times conflict with port time and shore excursions?
Seminars are always scheduled early in the morning and late afternoon, so they do not conflict with scheduled port time or shore excursions. Normally, the morning sessions are from 9:00 am – 11:00 am and the afternoon sessions are from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. The confirmed working schedule will be included with the cruise documents.
Are the seminar participants required to attend all of the sessions?
No. The seminar participants will earn credits only for those hours in which they participate. All seminar participants will be required to sign in for each session. A seminar credit report will be sent to the medical school (SUNY at Stony Brook) upon completion of the seminar.
How soon after the cruise will the seminar participant receive their certificates?
Approximately 5 – 6 weeks after returning from their cruise. The seminar report is normally forwarded to the medical school approximately 2 weeks after the cruise ends. The medical school will process the report and forward the CME certificate to the participants within 3-4 weeks after they receive the report.
If a physician or attorney is interested in traveling with one of our groups, does he/she have to participate in the seminar?
No. They can purchase the cruise without participating in any seminar.
Can the seminar participant bring other family & friends along with them on the cruise?
Absolutely!!! Of course, this is subject to availability….
Do we offer discounts for our repeat guests?
Yes. Alumni members receive a 25% discount of their seminar registration fee.
Are gratuities included in the cruise fare?
No. Gratuities are not included are to be paid by each guest at the end of their cruise.
What is included in the seminar registration fee?
Admission to the seminar, all seminar materials, a certificate of participation, and a welcome cocktail party, which all family members are invited to.
