We loved all of the ports – the dolphin encounter in Cozumel was fantastic, Belize was just a little shopping for us, Roatan and zip lining OMG what a rush!, and then the secluded beach and lunch afternoon in Grand Cayman. Using your recommended excursion planning company was the best idea! We did find doing the four ports in a row made standing in lines seem excessive and very tiring but still fun.
The ship on the other hand left a little to be desired, especially on room size and customer service. We were expecting the same pull-down bed but instead got a king bed with a couch that turned into a twin bed – it gave us nowhere to sit because the cabin steward kept the sheets on it all the time. In fact, I don’t think we saw him but maybe three times the entire trip; unlike previous cruises where we developed a rapport with the stewards. Won’t do an extended balcony again because it seemed to take away from the stateroom size – felt like we were tripping over one another all the time.
Then, late Monday evening our stateroom flooded (we had water squishing between our toes) due to a clogged shower drain. Carnival said there were no staterooms available for us to move to so we lived with everything off the floor and a commercial size blower fan in our stateroom until Friday afternoon. I can’t tell you how many times we stubbed our toes on that darn fan! Guest Services was unwilling to make any type of concession for the inconvenience and even argued with us about the day the flooding occurred. After speaking with several levels of management, we were given a credit of $311 (odd amount I know but based on some formula they use for the incident and number of days) and a 15% voucher off another cruise within two years.
Despite all this, we’ll still cruise again. J
